Poland is the first and until now the only country in Eastern and Central Europe where it is possible to process contactless card payments.

The first transaction made with a contactless smart card has been already processed. This type of card with PayPass functionality has been implemented by Bank Zachodni WBK in co-operation with MasterCard and eService (Centre of Electronic Payment Services).

The limited value of your purchase for which you can pay with contactless smart cards issued by BZWBK is set at 50 PLN. Payments that exceed this limit require traditional confirmation with a PIN-code.

The launch of contactless smart cards on the Polish market has been awaited for a long time, especially by those who for many different reasons do not like carrying too much cash on them and therefore have problems with making purchases of smaller quantities such as a chocolate bar, a cup of coffee or a newspaper at a newsagents.

Conducting payments with a contactless smart card is very quick:

- We give the chosen product to the shop assistant
- The shop assistant scans the price
- We bring our card to close the card reader 2-5 cm off,
- Card payment acceptance proceeds
- We take our purchase and leave the shop.
